Welcome to my blog. This blog is dedicated to my quest to visit all town halls in the Netherlands. My plan is to visit all the town halls in the Netherlands with my motorcycle. I must admit that it is not nearly as adventurous as racing the Paris-Dakar rally, or travelling from Argentina to Canada in 3 months; I would love to do one of these as well. But for now I am bound to the Netherlands. Unfortunately we do not have incredible snow-tipped mountains as in France, blue lagoons as in the Carribean, or other marvellous wonders of nature. But is it really that boring in the Netherlands? Not at all. Join me in my quest and I will show you a different side of the Netherlands.
It all started a couple of months ago. As a avid motorcyclist and Adventure Rider Ride Reports reader, I felt I wanted to do some exploring myself. Since I do not have the means to do a round-the-world trip myself right now, I figured that I might as well explore my home-country. Among the lacking means is time. Although the Netherlands is a small country, it takes a couple of hours to reach the other side of the country. On weekdays I have to study; this means that I merely have the weekends to do the trips, each trip starting from my house.
The movie Julie and Julia inspired me to start a blog. As most people who start blogs can confirm, it gets tough after the first couple of posts. Since this quest is a huge personal commitment (at least to myself), I hope I can also stay motivated to work on my writing, and in the meanwhile visit new places, and learn about my country.
If you have some places you can recommend, or know of any old (and perhaps unused) town halls, let me know and I will snap a picture of it!
